About Me and Change
ABOUT ME
A drunk once asked me “Who arrre ya?”
“I’m Damian”, I replied.
“Nnooo, I didn’t ask ya name”, he insisted condescendingly, “I said who arrre yooou?”, prodding me in the chest with his crooked hand.
Just what I needed! A philosophical drunk…
It’s not often we try to answer “WHO AM I?” We tend to assume that we know who we are because we spend so much time being us. But like me, I assume others tend to describe themselves by age, family, interests, etc.
So here goes…
I live in the North East of China with my wife and two boys. My employment background is varied but I find myself around education and youth care. Living in an international community as expatriates, my family and I experience continuing change. My goal in life to is experience and attempt to gain further insight into cultures from across the globe. I believe everyone has something to contribute to anything worthy of discussion and I love delving into peoples thoughts to help form any position I might take.
I see life as a continuing set of experiences through which we learn, grow and change.
ABOUT CHANGE
Thomas Tapley Jr. way back when penned “ALL THINGS CHANGE” on our family crest. Now more than ever I couldn’t agree more with what he wrote.
Keep in mind though that Tom said “things” change. This in affect excludes God and God’s attributes from change. God tends not to be a “thing”. One thing that does change with God is our perspective… it’s kind of like staring at everything you can see until the horizon and then traveling for an hour and taking another look.
